About this treatment
What it does
Filler Dissolve uses an enzyme called hyaluronidase to break down hyaluronic acid filler that has migrated, overfilled an area, or has simply been there long enough that you'd like a fresh start. Within 24-48 hours, the existing filler is broken down and absorbed safely by the body.
We treat filler dissolve as seriously as we treat the original placement. There is no judgement attached to dissolving filler — whether it's our own work, someone else's, or filler from years ago that no longer suits you, this is a routine and important part of good aesthetic practice.
A patch test is mandatory at least 24 hours before treatment, as a small percentage of clients react to hyaluronidase. We will never skip this step, regardless of how convenient it might be to do so.
The Journey
From first conversation to settled result
- 01
Consultation & Patch Test
An honest conversation about what's bothering you and what we can realistically achieve. We'll perform a patch test on the inner forearm, which must be observed for at least 24 hours before treatment can proceed. No exceptions.
- 02
Treatment
If the patch test is clear, you return for the dissolve itself. Numbing cream is applied, then small targeted injections of hyaluronidase are placed precisely where the filler sits. The injection takes 10-15 minutes.
- 03
Recovery & Result
Most of the filler will be visibly broken down within 24-48 hours, with full resolution at 2 weeks. Some swelling and bruising is normal. We always review at 2 weeks to confirm the area is fully clear before any new filler is considered — and we wait a minimum of 2 weeks before re-treating.
The Details
What to expect
Aftercare in brief
Caring for your result
Expect significant swelling and possible bruising for 24-72 hours — this is normal and not a cause for concern. Avoid alcohol, exercise, and heat (saunas, hot baths) for 48 hours. Sleep elevated the first night. Avoid touching or massaging the area. Do not book new filler for at least 2 weeks. If you experience any unusual symptoms, contact us immediately.
Common Questions
You asked, we answered
Will you dissolve filler I had done elsewhere?
Yes, absolutely. We dissolve filler regardless of who placed it, with no judgement and no questions about the original practitioner. We do ask about it during consultation only so we can plan the right approach — what was used, when, and where it was placed all matter to how we dissolve it.
Why is the patch test mandatory?
A small percentage of clients react to hyaluronidase, the enzyme used to dissolve filler. The reaction can be serious. The patch test takes a few minutes, costs nothing extra, and must be observed for 24 hours before we can proceed safely. We will not waive this step under any circumstances, no matter how urgent it feels.
How much swelling should I expect?
Significant. The area will look puffy and may bruise for 24-72 hours — this is the enzyme breaking down the filler, and it's a sign the treatment is working. Plan around this. We don't recommend booking dissolve immediately before an event.
Will it dissolve all my filler in one session?
Sometimes, but not always. Stubborn or older filler — particularly heavily cross-linked products or filler that has been in place for many years — can need 2-3 sessions to fully clear. We'll be honest at consultation about what we expect, and we always wait at least 2 weeks between sessions.
Can I have new filler immediately afterwards?
No. We wait a minimum of 2 weeks after dissolving before considering any new filler. This lets us see the area in its true settled state and ensures the enzyme has fully cleared. Filling the same day defeats the purpose of dissolving.
Does it dissolve all types of filler?
Hyaluronidase only dissolves hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers — which are the vast majority of fillers used today. Permanent or semi-permanent fillers (such as silicone, PMMA, or Radiesse) cannot be dissolved with this method. If you don't know what was used, we'll discuss this carefully at consultation.
Can I have it if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. We don't perform aesthetic treatments during pregnancy or breastfeeding for safety reasons.
