About this treatment
What it does
Microneedling — sometimes called collagen induction therapy — uses a precision pen with very fine needles to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin. The skin reads these as small injuries and responds the way it always has: by producing fresh collagen and elastin to repair them. The result, over weeks, is firmer, smoother, more even skin.
It's one of the few treatments where you're not adding anything to your skin — you're asking your skin to do its own work better. That makes it well suited to fine lines, uneven texture, enlarged pores, mild scarring, and that overall dullness that no amount of skincare quite seems to fix.
Most clients see a noticeable change after a single session. The most pronounced results come from a course of three or four, spaced four to six weeks apart, with a top-up every six to twelve months.
The Journey
From first conversation to settled result
- 01
Consultation
An honest assessment of your skin and what realistic results look like for you. We discuss your concerns, your skincare routine, and whether a single session or a course is the right approach. The exact cost is confirmed before any agreement.
- 02
Treatment
The skin is thoroughly cleansed and numbing cream is applied for 20-30 minutes. The treatment itself takes 20-30 minutes — the pen is passed methodically across the treated area at a depth tailored to the concern. A calming serum is applied at the end.
- 03
Recovery & Result
Expect redness similar to mild sunburn for 24-48 hours. Some flaking is normal between days 3-5. Initial glow appears within a week; the full collagen response builds gradually over 4-6 weeks. Results compound with each subsequent session.

What to expect
Aftercare in brief
Caring for your result
Avoid makeup, active skincare (retinol, acids, vitamin C), and sweating for 24-48 hours. No hot showers, saunas, swimming pools, or direct sun for 48-72 hours. Use a gentle cleanser and a hydrating moisturiser only. SPF 50 every day for at least 7 days — your skin is more sun-sensitive after treatment. Do not pick at any flaking skin. Drink plenty of water and let the skin do its work.
Common Questions
You asked, we answered
How many sessions will I need?
Most clients see a noticeable change from a single session. For more pronounced or longer-lasting results — particularly for scarring, lines, or significant texture — we recommend a course of 3-4 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart, then a top-up every 6-12 months. We'll be honest at consultation about what one session can and can't do.
Will it hurt?
Minimal discomfort. We apply numbing cream for 20-30 minutes before and most clients describe the sensation as a light scratching or vibration. Areas closer to bone (forehead, jawline) can feel a touch more sensitive than the cheeks.
What does the downtime actually look like?
Expect 24-48 hours of redness, similar to mild sunburn. Some skin tightness and mild flaking is normal between days 3-5 — do not pick at it. Most clients are comfortable wearing makeup again from day 2-3, though we recommend going barefaced where possible to let the skin recover.
Can I have it before an event?
Yes, but timing matters. The initial glow appears around day 5-7. We don't recommend booking less than a week before a major event, and ideally 2-3 weeks before, so any redness has fully settled and the glow has come through.
Is it suitable for my skin type?
Microneedling is suitable for most skin types and tones, including darker skin where some other resurfacing treatments can be problematic. We will, however, decline treatment if you have active acne, eczema, or rosacea flare-ups in the area, an active cold sore, or recently used certain medications. We'll discuss your suitability honestly at consultation.
What's the difference between this and a derma roller at home?
Substantial. Home rollers use much shorter, fixed-depth needles that don't penetrate to the level needed to trigger meaningful collagen response, and they pose a real infection risk if not perfectly sterile. Our pen uses adjustable, single-use sterile cartridges and is far more controlled. The two are not the same treatment.
Can I have it if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. We don't perform aesthetic treatments during pregnancy or breastfeeding for safety reasons.
